Brandimage designs the new and distinctive The Macallan’s Double Cask

Brandimage, a leading global consultancy of brand equity architects and designers, is proud to announce that following the sensational release of The Macallan’s 1824 Masters Series, Rare Cask, N°6, Oscuro and Reflexion, Brandimage now brings to life a new package design for the Double Cask 12 Years Old.

The creative challenge was to express all the iconic elements that make up the prestige and the heritage of The Macallan brand, and create a homogeneous balance with newly created attributes.

Undoubtedly, to better embody the distinctive American oak style of Double Cask, Brandimage created a design that features the unique pattern of Macallan’s signature triangles, as well as the emblematic brand lock-up of The Macallan, and hand-drawn casks. The emblematic logo and the golden trim, that were perfected for the 1824 Masters series, are also found on the Double Cask, ensuring that The Macallan brand story is consistent, powerful and refined, and their whiskies are rooted in timeless luxury.

Created from the perfect balance of sherry seasoned European and American oak casks, Double Cask 12 Years Old brings a distinctive character to the fore, whilst presenting flavours familiar to both the Sherry Oak and Fine Oak ranges.  The result is a new interpretation of the signature 12 Years Old Macallan ; sweet, yet balanced and honeyed in character.


Founded in 1824 in the heart of Speyside, The Macallan was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to be legally licensed. Since then it has built a reputation as one of the world’s leading single malt whiskies.  The creation of The Macallan draws on the vital contributing influences of Spain, North America and Scotland, and of their respective natural raw materials, combined with traditional methods and craftsmanship. From its founding, through the subsequent owners of The Macallan distillery in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and into the present century, The Macallan has been recognized for its outstanding quality above all else.
